چکیده

The maxillary sinus lift technique consists in grafting a bone substitute below the sinus membrane to achieve sufficient thickness for implant stability. The golden standard as a bone substitute is the patient's autologous bone, which is not only fully biocompatible but is also able to stimulate bone regeneration through the osteoinductive factors it contains. Nonetheless, it has to be withdrawn from a donor site, and this increases both the operative risk and creating increased patient discomfort. In this case report, we present the results of a maxillary sinus lift achieved by grafting a heterologous bone substitute of equine origin, totally deantigenized through enzymatic treatment. The bone substitute was applied together with two osteopromoting heterologous compounds: an angiogenesis and a morphogenesis activator. At 6 months, the X-ray examinations show a greatly regenerated bone area at the grafting site. The histological examinations show that the grafted material was nearly completely remodeled and substituted by vital endogenous newly-formed bone tissue.

Using Absorbable Gelatin Sponge to Facilitate Sinus Membrane Elevation during Open Sinus Lift: Technical Notes and Case Series

Ridge atrophy accompanied by the pneumatization of maxillary sinus in the maxillary posterior region may lead to inadequate bone height, thereby precluding implant placement. Therefore, it may be mandatory to perform a sinus membrane elevation procedure and augmentation in the bone. The present study aimed to introduce a novel modification method for sinus floor elevation using a gelatin sponge...

Clinical and biological analysis in graftless maxillary sinus lift

Maxillary sinus lift for dental implant installation is a well-known and versatile technique; new techniques are presented based on the physiology of intrasinus bone repair. The aim of this review was to determine the status of graftless maxillary sinus lift and analyze its foundations and results. A search was conducted of the literature between 1995 and 2015 in the Medline, ScienceDirect, and...

Schneiderian Membrane Perforation on Posterior Maxillary Implant....Nooh N

The extraction of posterior teeth and subsequent pneumatization of the maxillary sinus compromises osseointegrated implant placement in the posterior maxilla and necessitates associated surgical procedures like sinus floor elevation (sinus lift) and maxillary ridge augmentation. Sinus lift and bone grafting is the procedure of choice when the crestal bone height (CBH) is less than the shortest ...

Lateral window for major sinus lift bone grafting: Technical note

Introduction After the loss of teeth in the posterior maxilla, the thickness or vertical height between the alveolar crest and maxillary sinus may be insufficient to place dental implants. At present, maxillary sinus lifting has become a widely used technique for augmenting bone tissue volume in the maxilla. Various surgical techniques can be applied to achieve a sufficient bone volume in order...

Hydrodynamic ultrasonic maxillary sinus lift: Review of a new technique and presentation of a clinical case

OBJECTIVES Placing implants in the posterior maxillary area has the drawback of working with scarce, poor quality bone in a significant percentage of cases. Numerous advanced surgical techniques have been developed to overcome the difficulties associated with these limitations. Subsequent to reports on the elevation of the maxillary sinus through the lateral approach, there were reports on the ...
